Abstract:Uranium metal samples of large surface to volume ratios were irradiated in the presence of 1 cm3 of air. It was found that 1.708±0.015% of133Xe was released during irradiation. It was proved that this amount of133Xe is due to the decay of133I originally released. The release of133Xe was attributed to the knock-out mechanism.
