| 摘 要： | 本文对英语词汇的隐喻扩展进行讨论，分析了隐喻对人们思维、英语及其它语言的影响．对以 下三个主要方面进行了讨论：①单义词汇通过隐喻扩展为多义词汇；②词汇本义与隐喻义间的相 似；③隐喻义对词义的转换与复合的影响．

| Abstract: | This paper is a study of the metaphoric extension of English words. It starts with the influence of metaphor upon men's thoughts, upon English lan- guage as well as upon other languages. Moreover, three main points are dis- cussed: (1) the commonly used literal meanings from which the metaphoric meanings are extended, (2)similarities between literal meaning and metaphoric meaning, and(3)the obtrusive influence of metaphoric meaning upon conversion and compound words |
