Differences in the deformation and strength properties of human large blood vessels as a function of location,loading direction,and age

The separate and combined effect of various factors on the stress-elongation relation and the maximum stresses in human blood vessels has been studied on the basis of a statistical analysis of experimental data obtained in uniaxial and biaxial tension. Stress confidence intervals for vessels of the muscular and elastic types are determined. A correlation between maximum stress and age is established.
