Abstract: | Zusammenfassung Als Ausgangsprodukte für Polykondensationsversuche wurden aus Cellulosetricarbanilat durch Alkoholyse in 2-Methoxyäthanol in Gegenwart von p-Toluolsulfonsäure 2,2,3,3,6,6-Hexacarbanilylcellobiose (C
2), aus Amylosetricarbanilat 2,2,3,3,6,6-Hexacarbanilylmaltose (A
5) erhalten.Die Polykondensation vonC
2,A
2 undA
Synthesis of linear polysaccharides, II The starting materials used for the polycondensation reactions were obtained by alcoholysis in 2-methoxyethanol in the presence of p-methylbenzene sulfonic acid; from 2.3.6-tricarbanilylcellulose, 2.2.3.3.6.6-hexacarbanilylcellobiose (C
2) and from 2.3.6-tricarbanilylamylose, 2.2.3.36.6-hexacarbanilylmaltose (A
2) and a 2.3.6-trisubstituted mixture of maltooligomers with degree of polymerization of 3–7 (A
5).The polycondensation ofC
2,A
2 andA
5 in CHCl3/DMSO/P2O5 resulted in the formation of highly branched, high molecular weight products (MW105 to 106). The substances contained 1–3% formaldehyde, which made branching and cross-linking reactions at the carbanilyl groups possible. After complete saponification the condensation products derived fromC
2 were linear chains containing ca. 15 monomer units. Formation of glycosidic bonds had not occurred during condensation ofA
2 andA
5.The condensations were free of side reactions in tetrahydrofuran with p-methylbenzene sulfonic acid as a catalyst and CaH2 as a drying agent. FromC
2, linear polycondensation products were obtained with -glycosidic linkages exclusively and with a degree of polymerization of about 20.A
2 andA
5 gave no condensation products in this medium also. Steric effects were assumed to be responsible for this difference in behaviour.
