Abstract:Polyphenyl phosphates(PPP) were synthesized by solution polycondensation of phenylphosphate dichloride with biphenol in the presence of pyridine at room temperature. The optimum molar ratio for synthesis was n (-OH); n (-Cl); n (Py) = 1 .4 : 1 .0 t 2 .4. The structures of PPPs were confirmed by IR and 1H NMR. The PPPs with DP of 43~45 possessed good flame retardance(LOI >25. 5). The flame retardant property of PPP towards epoxide resin E-44 has been discussed in relation to the DP of the polymers.
