Abstract: | Vapor phase oxidation of toluene to benzaldehyde has been studied on lanthanum cobaltite, LaCoO3, with a perovskite structure. Experimental data were obtained in the temperature range 350 to 600°C and contact time 0.2 to 2 h. The overall kinetic analysis indicated the oxidation of toluene to benzaldehyde to be first order, with a frequency factor of 0.62 h–1 and an activation energy of 38.29 kJ mol–1.
