Abstract: | The product of the reaction of [Fe(benzalacetone)(CO)3] with 7,7-dimethoxy-5,6-dimethylidenebicyclo[2.2.1] hept-2-ene is tricarbonyl-[2,3-η:O-σ-(7,7-dimethoxy-5,6-dimethylidenebicyclo [2.2.1]hept-2-ene)]iron. Crystals are monoclinic, space group P21/c with a = 6.612(2), b = 11.610(4), c = 18.604(6) Å, and β = 95.91(2)°. The coordination at the metal atom is trigonal bipyramidal. The equatorial sites are occupied by 2 CO's and by the midpoint of the endocyclic double bond of the organic ligand. The axial sites are occupied by one CO group and the O-atom of one MeO group of the C(OMe)2 bridge. It is an uncommon example of a d8 metal carbonyl complex bearing an O-bonded ligand. |
