Polymers from 4,4′-sulfonyldiphenol

Several polymers have been prepared from 4,4′-sulfonyldiphenol (SDP) or its bis-phenate salt as the nucleophile in condensation polymerizations. Ester-sulfone-amic acid polymers were of fairly high molecular weight, and could be imidized. Soluble film-forming poly ether-ester-sulfones were prepared from diphenyl ether diacid chloride.
