Electrohydrodynamic ionization mass spectrometry of sulfonates

Electrohydrodynamic ionization mass spectrometry has been applied to the analysis of 2-naphthol-3,6-disulfonic acid, disodium salt and 4,5-dihydroxy-2,7-naphthalenedisulfonic acid, disodium salt. The negative ion mass spectra indicate ions characteristic of the sample and no fragment ions are observed. Degrees of dissociation of the sulfonates and the ion-solvent interactions are reflected in the negative ion spectra.
