Abstract:A two-grid method for the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations is considered in R2. The method involves solving a nonlinear problem on a coarse mesh, a Stokes problem on a fine mesh and a linear correction problem on the coarse mesh. L2 and H1 optimal velocity approximations and an L2 optimal pressure approximation are given for fixed Reynolds numbers. Compared with the usual finite element method solving the same nonlinear problem on the fine mesh, this method can save much CPU time. A numerical experiment is also given to verify the correctness of theoretical analysis.
