| Abstract: | It is suggested that the forbidden, “parallel” bands in the Ã2 Σ+ ? X?2 Π system of NCO are a manifestation of a Renner—Teller interaction. The relative intensities of these bands are explicable when reference is made to the parameter ΔgL measured in microwave Zeeman experiments on the molecule in the X?2 Π state. |
