| Abstract: | Three yohimbane derivatives, 17,19β-dihydroxy yohimbane 2a and 2b and 19β-chloro-β-yohimbine 3, have been prepared starting from corynantheine. The reaction involved is a Prins cyclisation reaction, the mechanism of which is compared to the biosynthetic route proposed for yohimbane-type indole alkaloids. |
