| Abstract: | The use of p-nitrophenyl ester 1 has been shown to offer a reliable method for the detection of free aromatic amines. As little as 3.4 μmol g−1 of free aniline amino groups can be detected. The method has shown to be more sensitive for the detection of sterically hindered aromatic amines than the existing alternative based on reaction with chloranil. |
