Abstract:Viscosity is an important property commonly used in the design and analysis of the systems such as energy,power,and chemical industry.In this work,the calculation of gaseous and supercritical viscosity of 5 noble gases(He,Ne,Ar,Kr,and Xe) is discussed.It is found that the dimensionless viscosity(the actual viscosity divided by the dilute gas viscosity at the same temperature) of the 5 noble gases follows the same univariate function of residual entropy.Based on this,the gaseous and supercritical viscosity model for noble gases is established.The dilute gas viscosity correlation is developed based on the kinetic theory,and the residual entropy is determined by Soave-Redlich-Kwong(SRK) equation of state.The results are compared with the experimental data at 183~2150 K and pressures within 380 MPa,89% of the 1819 data points have a deviation of less than 1.5%,while the data points with large deviation are mainly at high pressures above 10 MPa,and the maximum deviation is 4.4%.The model can be applied for the prediction of noble gas viscosity in the region without sufficient experimental data.
