Experimental Study on the Stability of Nanofluids in an Electric Heating Structure

Abstract:In order to prepare Cu,Al2 O3 and Fe3 O4 nanofluids with various mass fractions(0.5%,1.0%,1.5%and 2.0%)by a two-step method,the mixture of the ethylene glycol and deionized water(EGW)with a ratio of 4:6 was used as base fluid.The heating effect of these nanofluids in an electric heating structure was comparatively analyzed in different stages.Thermal stability tests of the Cu-EGW nanofluid were also conducted.Results indicate that the Cu-EGW nanofluid shows the best heating effect in the tested nanofluids.It is found that at the 30-day retest,when Cu-EGW nanofluid is used as the heating medium,the average temperature values of the middle fin and ambient air are reduced by up to 7.4%and 3.8%.
