Separation of red blood cells by magnetic means

A recent article by Haik et al. is critically reviewed. It is shown that the techniques of separation of red blood cells proposed by the above authors are unlikely to work and that high-gradient magnetic separation is probably the only viable method of separation of erythrocytes.
