浅谈英语习语汉译过程中的“似是而非”现象

习语是人们在生产劳动和社会生活中长期使用而提炼出来的一些固定的短语或短句,是一国文化的精华。有些英汉习语,从字面上看酷似,但是由于中西方历史文化的差异,地域文化的差异,习俗文化的差异和宗教文化的差异等原因,它们实际上是"似同实异"或"似是而非",在翻译中很容易出错,本文整理了几对这种形似义异的词,旨在培养和提高读者对文化差异的敏感度。

The"nonequivalence"of Translation for some Chinese and English Idioms

Idioms,quintessence of the culture,are fixed phrases and expressions which are used by people through working and social practices.Some English and Chinese idioms look very alike,but they are quite different in fact,owing to the differences in history,geography,living customs and religious belief.In order to avoid irrelevant translations of these idioms and cultivate and develop the sensitiveness of the cultural difference for English-learners,this paper lists several groups of such idioms with the introduction of its source and translation.
