Abstract: | Polymeric scaffolds are three-dimensional, porous structures that may be used as a vehicle to deliver cells or therapeutic factors to repair tissue defects. Both biodegradable and non-biodegradable polymers have been developed for this purpose. In this review, we survey the polymers that have been investigated for cartilage tissue engineering and discuss the critical parameters for successful applications in the future. |
