Abstract:Preliminary results from this study show that x-ray microcomputed tomography can be used to image model proteins for bone inducing growth factors. Small quantities (<1 μg protein/mg gelatin) of soybean trypsin inhibitor labeled with either gold nanoparticles or nonradioactive iodine were detected using synchrotron radiation. These results could lead to a new method of measuring the release profile of therapeutic proteins.
