Abstract: | The behavior of a freezing (defrosting) fluid in a square cell is studied for three different initial conditions. For a fixed Grashof number Gr, the existence of four steady-state solutions is demonstrated. On a certain range of Gr, an increased solid-phase fraction in the cell, as compared with the pure heat conduction case, is obtained. The critical values of Gr corresponding to passage from one type of solution to another are found |
