| Abstract: | The physical content of the well-known Lanczos method of tridiagonalisation is analysed in the framework of nuclear spectroscopy of low-lying states. The formal calculations are based on diagrammatic methods. Their link with other methods and their possible use in other fields of spectroscopy are briefly considered. |
