Abstract:A compact XeCl laser system made up of an oscillator and an amplifier is described.By applying a stimulated Brillouin scattering mirror (SBSM) to the amplifier, an output laser beam, whose optical and spectral characteristics are very close to those of the oscillator,has been obtained. By applying to the amplifier a 1. 7m long phase conjugate cavity formed by a SBSM and a quartz flat window, a train of pulses separated by the cavity round trip time has been obtained. The first pulse was 8 nsec long, while the last was shorter than 2 nsec.
