| Abstract: | In an approximate theory of deformation used in the linear theoryof elasticity, the exact strain and rotation matrices E, R arereplaced by quantities E{small tilde},R{small tilde}. This paperestablishes "best-possible" bounds, in terms of the local accuracy E, for the errors associated with this approximation. |
