A specific geminal interaction in the OCCl triad, which is weakened in comparison to the corresponding ethers, appears in the mono- -chloro esters RCOOCClR1R2.

All the mono--chloro esters exist in a synclinal conformation with respect to the O-Csp3 bond with a ClCOC(O) dihedral angle equal to 70–90°.
