Conformations et stereoregularite de poly 2 vinyl pyridines—II Etude theorique

The molecular optical anisotropy of isotactic and atactic (anionic) poly 2 vinyl pyridines has been interpreted according to the rotational isomeric state model and in terms of meso and racemic dyads. In the hypothesis of a Bernouillian propagation process, analysis of the results shows that isotactic and atactic compounds contain respectively 98–99% and 9–10% of meso dyads. Therefore the so-called atactic polymer is essentially syndiotactic.
