| Abstract: | Optical absorption spectra have been observed for K in Ar matrices in the temperature range 9–30 K. Some absorption lines disappear irreversibly at annealing temperatures below 12 K. The major part of the remaining lines shows reversible changes with temperature. The lineshapes of the so-called blue and red triplets can be quantitatively described in terms of the dynamic Jahn-Teller effect. |
