Generation of a single picosecond pulse using Raman backscattering

Abstract:The second harmonic pulse train from a mode-locked NdratioYAG Self-Filtering Unstable Resonator has been compressed by a factor of ap 2.3 using Raman backscattering. Single pulses of 7.4 picoseconds atlambda=0.68Mgrm and with 70 percent success probability have been obtained.
