The high density properties of lithium hydride

The zero temperature phases of LiH are discussed for densities ranging from zero pressure equilibrium up to the region of extreme densities for which the electrons become relativistic. Estimates are made for the critical densities and pressures for the lower pressure insulator-metal transition, the high density pressure ionization transition and the phase separation at extreme densities. Structural modifications are discussed and lattice dynamics in the pressure ionized regime is considered.
