| Abstract: | Cascade reaction sequences incorporating N-heterocyclic carbene-based organocatalysis have been developed that allow the direct preparation of a range of (+/-)-4-phenoxycarbonylazlactones in good isolated yields (66-84%) from the corresponding N-p-anisoyl amino acids. |
