Abstract: | The propagation of waves in inhomogeneous elastic media with spherical or cylindrical symmetry, when the curved surface of the solid is given a uniform normal loading — the stress and displacement components within the solid then may be assumed to depend on one space coordinate and time alone —, is considered.
