General complementary media:electromagnetically transforming a small rectangle object to a large convex/concave pentagon object

Abstract:Based on the complementary media theory, we propose a way to transform a small object into a large one by coating it with a metamaterial shell with negative refractive index. Small waveguides made with this structure can replace large virtual tunnels to connect two separated waveguides. A small portal coating with complementary media is also designed in which a large entrance is concealed from electromagnetic wave detection.
