| Abstract: | The vibration spectra (IR and RAMAN ) are reported for P(OCH3)3, P(OCH3)2Cl and P(OCH3)Cl2. An assignment of the frequencies to the fundamental vibrations is tried. All valence-force constants are calculated by a simplified valence force field. In the investigated compounds no inductive effect is observed. The force constants of all bonds in the phosphorous(III) compounds are lower by 19% than in the phosphorous(V) compounds. |
