Abstract: | Schiff base “1,4 bis (p-methoxybenzilidine) benzene” (SB) and its diphenyl phosphine derivative (OPSB) have been isolated in solid state and characterized on the bases of macroanalytical, infrared IR, electronic and 1H NMR spectral data, and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA). The electrical conductivity as a function of temperature for the two compounds under investigation (SB and OPSB) have been measured. The results of the electrical conductivity (σ), thermal activation energies associated with the electrical conductivity, as well as energy gaps calculated from the electronic absorption spectra in the solid state were consistent with those of the traditional semiconductors. |
