| Abstract: | 2-Sulfinyl dienols undergo an efficient base-promoted cyclization to produce sulfinyl dihydropyrans with creation of two asymmetric centers. The configurational stability of the allylic sulfoxide in most cases is noteworthy. Simple manipulations lead to a variety of functionalized tetrahydropyrans. |
