Pyrimidines

A comparative study was made of the addition of ethanol at the carbonyl group of some 2-formylpyrimidines and aldehydes of other series in which the carbonyl group is activated by the effect of an electron-acceptor grouping (chloral, p-nitrobenzaldehyde, and 2-formylpyridine).
