| Abstract: | The thermal condensation of halobenzylmalonic esters with phenol has given a series of 3-halobenzyl derivatives of 4-hydroxycoumarin. Alkaline hydrolysis, with simultaneous decarboxylation, gives the corresponding o-hydroxy- -halophenylpropiophenones. |
