Abstract: | In the present study the restoration of interference fringes, whose visibility is degraded by the presence of a finite crossing angle between the two paths of a neutron interferometer, is experimentally demonstrated. A crossing angle of 1.0 μrad was introduced using an optical component consisting of a magnetic multilayer mirror, a wedge-shaped gap layer, and a nonmagnetic multilayer mirror. To restore the interference fringes, magnetic gradients of 0.64 G/cm were applied using two electro-quadrupole magnets. |
