Picosecond decay kinetics of CdS luminescence studied by a streak camera

Using a picosecond laser and a streak camera we have observed the time dependence of the luminescence intensity of free excitons, bound excitons, and excitonic molecules in CdS. The observed kinetics show that the P band is due to bimolecular emission from free excitons and that bound excitons are generated from free excitons through monomelecular process and excitonic molecule through bimolecular process.
