| Abstract: | A macro-micro connected statistical failure evolution equation for brittle metals is derived. The coefficients of this equation, the microcrack growth rate and the microcrack nucleation rate, come from a micromechanism. The macro mechanical quantities and their statistical distribution functions can be calculated from the solution of this equation. |
