Porphyrins. 23. Synthesis and properties of ethanebisporphyrins

It has been shown that copper complexes of meso-hydroxy(alkoxy)methylporphyrins in trifluoroacetic acid readily dimerize to give copper complexes of ethanebisporphyrins. Selective removal of one copper atom from the dimer molecule has been achieved.
