| Abstract: | Hydroxylamine (< 3 × 10?3 mol l?1) is quantified by ultraviolet spectrophotometry after reaction with an excess of formaldehyde in buffered solution at pH 12.2. The absorbance of the formaldoxime produced is measured at 218 nm (? = 5480 l mol?1 cm?1) when hydroxylamine is alone but at 230 nm (? = 3230 l mol?1 cm?1) when monochloramine is present. |
