Fundamental aspects and applications of fourier-transform ion-cyclotron resonance spectrometry

Abstract:The operating principles, features, advantages, applications and potential of Foourier-transform ion-cyclotron resonance (F.t./i.c.r. or F.t.m.s.) mass spectrometry are discussed. It is shown that F.t./i.c.r. technology creates a high-performance mass spectrometer with high speed, high sensitivity, ultrahigh mass resolution, very wide mass range and unparalleled versatility.
