The theory and applications of the very low-pressure pyrolysis technique to the study of the rates and mechanisms of unimolecular reactions, radical-radical, and radical-molecule bimolecular reactions, surface recombination of atoms, heterogeneous reactions, and vibrational energy transfer are reviewed.
