| Abstract: | The spherulite morphology of pure poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) whichis free from catalyst, stabilizer. oligomer and diethylene glycol unit (DEG) and theeffects of the DEG chain structure and stabilizer triphenyl phosphite (TPP) on themorphology were studied by means of small-angle light scattering(SALS)and pola-rized light microscopy (PLM). No abnormal spherulite was found for pure PET, butthe DEG and TPP having internal and external plasticization respectively, wouldimpel the PET to form the abnormal spherulite. The effects of the TPP on thecrystallization, linear growth and nucleation rate of PET were also investigated usingdifferential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and hot-stage polarized light microscopy. |
