Dynamics of edge dislocations in a two-dimensional crystal at finite temperatures

Abstract:The gliding and annihilation of edge dislocations in a two-dimensional hexagonal lattice are investigated at different temperatures by the molecular dynamics method. The data obtained are used to determine the coefficients of the phenomenological equation of motion of dislocations that exhibit an inertia and experience retardation due to the interaction with phonons.
