Über die Bildung von Alkalicyanaten bei der Oxydation von Alkalicyaniden mit Peroxiden

Zusammenfassung Die Oxydation von Natrium- und Kaliumcyanid zu den entsprechenden Alkalicyanaten mit aktiviertem Wasserstoffperoxid, Cumolhydroperoxid und 2-Propyliden-hydroxy-hydroperoxid in redox-interten Lösungsmitteln wird untersucht. Der Mechanismus dieser Oxydationsreaktionen wird diskutiert. Die Reaktion von Alkalicyaniden mit aktiviertem H₂O₂, d. h. in Gegenwart von Acetonitril in niederen aliphatischen Alkoholen als Lösungsmittel, liefert die entsprechenden Cyanate in hoher Reinheit in über 90% Ausbeute und stellt somit eine einfach durchzuführende Laborsynthese für Alkalicyanate dar.

Formation of alkali cyanates by oxidation of alkali cyanides with peroxides

The formation of sodium and potassium cyanate by reaction of activated hydrogen peroxide, cumene hydroperoxide and 2-propylidene hydroxyhydroperoxide on sodium and potassium cyanide in redox-inert solvents has been investigated. The mechanism of these oxidation reactions is discussed. In the reaction of an alcoholic solution of sodium or potassium cyanide with activated H₂O₂, i.e. in the presence of acetonitrile, high yields of pure crystalline alkali cyanates are obtained. This procedure is therefore a very convenient method in synthesizing pure alkali metal cyanates.
