Optical properties of gyrotropic crystals in the field of counterpropagating ultrasound waves

Abstract:The oblique propagation of light through a gyrotropic crystal layer placed in the field of two counterpropagating ultrasound waves is considered. The problem is solved using Ambartsumian’s layer addition modified method. The results of studying the dependences of the amplitude and polarization characteristics on the light wavelength for different values of the problem parameters are presented. Possibilities of applications of such systems are discussed.
