The development of structural engineering: Suggestions for further research in mechanics of structures

Summary This paper focuses attention on the present and near future of structural engineering, so far as can be foreseen today. Its object is to identify those areas that have attracted less research, are less well known than others, and so the fields where further developments in Mechanics of structures, would be more profitable for structural engineering in general.

Sommario In questa nota si rivolge l'attenzione al presente e al prossimo futuro dell'Ingegneria Strutturale, come esso è prevedibile oggi, per evideziare quali siano le aree meno esplorate e conosciute e quali sono quindi i settori della Meccanica applicata alle costruzioni il cui sviluppo può magglormente contribuire al progresso dell'Ingegneria Strutturale.
