The balance of material momentum at a shock wave propagating in a thermo-elastic material

At a surface of discontinuity, the mechanical balance laws are represented by jump conditions. It is shown how the balance of material momentum at an adiabatic shock propagating in a thermo-elastic material is obtained from the discontinuous balances of physical momentum and energy.
