Bayesian signal restoration and Mumford-Shah functional

Abstract:We introduce a Bayesian signal restoration method which extracts jumps from a periodical signal. The maximum a posterior estimate of the model problem equals to a minimiser of a functional that Γ-converges to the Mumford-Shah functional. Furthermore, the behaviour of the approximative model in the infinite-dimensional limit is discussed in more detail. (© 2008 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
